Act 5 Scene 1

Characters: Gentlewoman, Doctor, Lady Macbeth

At night a room in a room in the castle at Dunsinane a gentlewoman and a doctor are on the scene and are discussing the strange sleepwalking that Lady Macbeth a quote “…rise from her bed, throw her night-gown upon her, unlock her closet, take forth paper, fold it, write upon’t, read it, afterwards seals it, and again return to bed; yet all this while in a most fast sleep.” Lady Macbeth enters in a trance with a candle talking silently about the murder of Lady Macduff and Banquo claiming that no water can clean her bloody hands, she leaves and the doctor and gentle woman has there doubts on Lady Macbeth’s sanity and if she is guilty.
